For the purpose of assisting the work of the common priesthood of the faithful, other particular ministries also exist, not consecrated by the sacrament of Holy Orders; their functions are determined by the bishops, in accord with the liturgical traditions and pastoral needs. "servers, readers, commentators, and members of the choir also exercise a genuine liturgical function," (Sacrosanctum Concilium 29).
--Catechism of the Catholic Church 1143
At St. Charles, men and women are appointed by the pastor to serve as lectors and extra ordinary Eucharistic ministers. Boys from the second half of fifth grade through twelfth grade may request to be altar servers. Ushers are always needed, and both men and women are encouraged to volunteer. St.Charles parish is also served by the men and women of the choir and the lamplighter and church cleaner groups.
If you are having difficulty accessing a particular service schedule, please call Mary at 612-781-6529.
Ushers serve at all Masses on Saturday evenings, Sundays, Holy Days, and special liturgies. Members meet several times during the year. Men and women are invited to join the ushers. Call the parish office at 612-781-6529 if interested.
Contribute to the needs of the saints; practice hospitality. (Rom 12:13)
Hospitality volunteers greet people at the door as they arrive for weekend Masses, assist folks who need assisting, answer any questions for visitors, and offer general hospitality. St. Charles would love to have your help! All it takes is a warm smile and positive attitude. Your commitment level can be flexible.
